Kathmandu. Hetauda-based Shivam Cement has come up with scholarships targeting girl students.
The company provided scholarships to 104 female students of Laxmi Basic School located in Hetauda-17, Hatiya for the current academic year. The amount collected from the students for the operation of the school for eight months was handed over in a formal ceremony held on the school premises on Tuesday.
The program was held at No. 17. The scholarships were handed over in the presence of ward representatives, representatives of Shivam Cement, chairman of school management committee and school principals. The company has arranged scholarships for girl students from grade 1 to 8. The scholarships are expected to boost the morale of girl students and increase their attendance in the school.
School principal Yadudev Upadhyay Sigdel thanked Shivam Cement for its support in the girls’ education. Stating that the industry has been collaborating with the school since its establishment in 2068 BS, he urged the government to arrange full scholarships from the next academic session.
Prior to this, Shivam Cement has been providing educational materials such as construction of compound wall, arrangement of school bus, computer printer and other educational materials in the school as part of its social responsibility.
