Kathmandu. Canada’s visa denial graph has been made public. Canada rejected 2.3 million visa applications in 2024. This is 50 percent of all visa applications. Which is 35 percent more than the 1.8 million applications rejected the previous year.
The Deccan Herald said that visa applicants include foreign workers, students and tourists. The report states that Canada is tightening its borders by approving fewer visas.
According to data obtained by the Toronto Star, Canadian immigration officials rejected 2.359 million temporary resident applications in 2024, compared to 1.846 million in 2023. The data shows that 52 percent of study permit applications were rejected. While 22 percent of working visas were denied in 2024. That was 23 percent in 2023.
Ottawa has reduced its permanent residence target for the next three years to 395,000 in 2025, 380,000 for 2026 and 365,000 for 2027. According to the report, the increase in visa denials comes amid growing public pressure on the Canadian government to limit the temporary emergency. –Agency
