Kathmandu. Tomorrow will be a public holiday. KATHMANDU — The Yomahri Purnima festival and Udhauli festival are being celebrated tomorrow on the day of Margashirsha Shukla Purnima. Government offices, banks, insurance companies and share markets will also remain closed on the occasion.
It is believed that the Newar community of the valley shifted the day of Yomari Purnima from Uttarayan January 1, 400 years ago. This full moon day is celebrated as a festival to eat special dishes made from rice flour with a knife during winter.
On the same day, the Kirat community is also celebrating the Udhauli festival. On this day, there is a tradition of celebrating the Udhauli festival by worshiping Bhumesthan and Sakelasthan so that the crops are good, the work is over, now there is no shortage of grains.
