Kathmandu. The Bagmati state government has decided to declare a public holiday on August 15. The state government has decided to declare a public holiday across the state on Sunday on the occasion of Gai Jatra festival.
According to the Ministry TAG_OPEN_p_5 of Internal Affairs and Law, the decision was approved by the provincial council of ministers and published in the state gazette.
According to the decision TAG_OPEN_p_4, public offices, educational institutions and private organizations within bagmati province will remain closed on that day.
Gai Jatra is TAG_OPEN_p_3 a major cultural festival celebrated by the Newar community in different parts of Bagmati Province, including the Kathmandu Valley. This festival, which is celebrated as a symbol of father’s remembrance, has a tradition of visiting the neighborhood in the form of a cow.
