Kathmandu. The racket of duping people under the guise of representatives of existing digital payment apps (digital wallets) or by promising valuable gifts and large sums of cash prizes has started spreading rapidly in Nepal as well. Most of the fraudsters have been found to be stealing and defrauding the public through wallets under the guise of representatives of payment service providers.

Some of these fraudulent apps increase confusion by duplicating payment information, such as a beep or bell, which gives false information that the payment has been received. In addition, they produce reliable payment information to show successful transactions, which are challenging for the general public to easily distinguish.

Merchants may have to sell goods or services for free or at a loss due to fraud in digital payments. There are some tips for traders that will help prevent fraud in digital transactions.

– Educate your employees: Ensure that all employees are aware of such fraud and know how to detect fraudulent transactions.

-Implement authentication procedures: Develop a standard procedure for payment authentication before providing goods or services. In this, wait for payment authentication from the smart speaker of your payment wallet. Fake apps cannot send messages on such speakers.
