Kathmandu. New Delhi: The government has imposed a strict ban on the sale of fuel to old vehicles that have expired in india’s capital Delhi, which is in the grip of pollution. According to the new provision, no petrol pump can sell fuel to old vehicles that have passed the age of life.

The government has installed age detection system at 477 petrol pumps in Delhi. The government is planning to install a total of 23 systems with the goal of implementing the ‘Fuel Prohibition for Expired Vehicles’ policy to control air pollution.

According to the Delhi government, equipment has been installed at 372 petrol pumps and 105 CNG(gas) refilling stations so far. These systems will be operationalised within another 10 to 15 days, a senior environment department official told PTI. He said the government expects to implement the system by the end of April.

The Delhi government had initially planned to implement the policy on April 1, but could not meet the deadline as the equipment was not installed at all designated locations.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa are closely monitoring the process. It will be fully implemented by the end of this month,” an environment department official added.
