One in every three people in Gaza goes hungry for several days, death toll from malnutrition rises to 122

Kathmandu. The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) says one in three people in Gaza have been living without food for several days. “Malnutrition is on the rise and 90,000 women and children are in urgent need of treatment,” the WFP said in a statement. ’

According to agencies, hunger in Gaza is getting worse this week. Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said nine more people died of malnutrition on Friday.

According to the ministry, the total number of deaths due to malnutrition has risen to 122 since the start of the war with Israel. Israel, which controls everything coming and going to Gaza, has said it has not stopped any aid to reach the region.

Israel has also blamed Hamas for malnutrition in Gaza. According to the Hamas-run Ministry of Health, more than 59,000 people have died in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
