Kathmandu. Acting on the Supreme Court’s interim order, the suspended chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), Sharad Ojha, has been reported to the office.
Ojha entered the office of the chairman on the fifth floor of the NEA after 4 pm on Tuesday. He will now be attending the office regularly on the basis of a short-term order from the court.
He had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding an interim order to reinstate and annul the decision of the Council of Ministers to sack him. The Supreme Court had issued an interim order on September 23 without implementing the decisions of the Council of Ministers.
The Council of Ministers had decided to form a probe committee following complaints about Ojha’s work experience and qualifications. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on August 18 had relieved him of his post as per Section 12 (1) (C) of the Insurance Act.
The Supreme Court had issued a temporary order till October 11 to discuss the interim order regarding the decision of the Council of Ministers regarding his removal from the post, the decision of seeking an application for the post of Chairman of the Insurance Authority.
The Supreme Court has ordered both the parties to appear before the court on October 11 for hearing on Ojha’s dismissal.
