Kathmandu. Soaltee Hotels Limited, which has been aggressive in expanding and managing the network of hotel and resort infrastructure in the domestic hospitality market, is also going to take over the management of a four-star hotel in Birgunj.
Soaltee is going to take over the management of Hotel Dialo Lords located in Adarshnagar as part of its strategy to operate or manage at least one hotel in each province. Dialo Lords, which has been in operation since 2019, is currently being managed by Indian international hotel chain Lords Hotels and Resorts.
According to relevant sources, an agreement has been reached between both parties to take over the management of the hotel, along with the selection of a general manager. Soaltee will take over the management from next March. After joining Soaltee’s network, there will be a total of two hotels under Soaltee’s management in Madhesh Province. The management of Mithila Yatri Hotel in the state capital Janakpur is being handled.
This is the third hotel in Soaltee’s network connected to the Indian border. Earlier, Soaltee was operating Soaltee Tiger Palace in Bhairahawa and Soaltee West & Premier Hotel in Nepalgunj. Of these, only Tiger Palace is managed by Soaltee, while West & Premier is a fully owned hotel by Soaltee.
The majority of Indian tourists who come to the Diyalo Lord’s Plaza Hotel for gambling (casino play) and drinking alcohol rather than for accommodation. The hotel has given the responsibility of operating the casino to a third party. The hotel has 60 rooms. Activities such as weddings, engagements, birthdays, and gatherings also contribute to the hotel’s income. The rating agency, Care Ratings Nepal, stated in a statement issued last November that the hotel has not been able to generate significant income due to the extremely low room sales rate and high discounts on the prescribed rates.
According to the unaudited financial statements of the last fiscal year 2080.81, Hotel Diyalo Pvt. Ltd., which has a total debt burden of Rs. 700 million, has done a total turnover of Rs. 131 million. In the previous fiscal year 2079.80, it had a turnover of Rs. 125 million.
The family members of industrialist Anil Rungta, who has been a member of the House of Representatives from the Nepali Congress, are the main investors.
The Soaltee brand is a 59-year-old name in Nepal’s tourism sector. Soaltee is also bringing tourist hotels to operation in Manakamana, Gorkha, and Pokhara in the next two months. The hotel is going to be brought into operation near the Manakamana temple and on the lakeside of Pokhara. Sudarshan Chapagain, Vice President of Hotels Limited, said that the company has set a target of bringing 15 hotels under the ownership and strategic management of Soaltee in two years.
