Kathmandu. Now, 2 percent of the claim payment received by the health service providers associated with the health insurance program will be deducted and deposited in the health insurance fund.
Issuing a notice today, the Health Insurance Board informed all the service providing health institutions about this. “The claim amount to be received by the service providing health institutions will be deducted 2 percent of the approved amount and deposited in the health insurance fund,” reads the notice.
A meeting of the Insurance Board held on April 2 last year had decided to deposit 2 percent of the approved amount of claim payment received by the service providing health institutions in the fund. Now this decision is going to be implemented.
The board has taken this decision to strengthen the health insurance fund. It is believed that if the fund is strong, it will help in health insurance reform.
Although there was a provision for health insurance fund in the Health Insurance Act, it was not active. As a result, the Insurance Board used to receive money from the Ministry of Health.
