Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has appealed to the general public to remain alert after the ‘NEPSE AI’ app scandal.
Issuing a press release today, the CIB urged the general public not to click, download and install any unfamiliar links and apps including NEPSE AI. According to the CIB, ai has been spreading misleading information on social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) to download the NEPSE AI app by analyzing the stock market and making maximum profit.
According to the CIB, information and complaints are being received that after installing the app, all the money in the account is being transferred to another in a moment by opening a remote session and destroying the evidence by deleting all the data in the victim’s digital device.
In the statement, the CIB cited the latest example of John Doi (nominal name) downloading and installing the NEPSE AI name app to analyze the stock market from a statement seen on social networking site Facebook. “After the installation of the app, as soon as the remote session was opened on that app, the office has received complaints that his mobile screen has been blocked for some time and all the data and apps on his mobile have been deleted. ’
Recently, Nepal’s cyber security expert Saroj Lamichhane had revealed that hackers stole millions of rupees from bank customers’ accounts. Lamichhane, citing the example of incidents that took place in the last few weeks, said that more than Rs 800 million has been stolen so far by downloading an unknown app called ‘NEPSE AI’.
At present, there is a lot of discussion about this fraud case. Meanwhile, the CIB has issued a press release warning against downloading and installing unfamiliar apps.
