Nepali researcher Ghimire honoured with prestigious research award in China

Kathmandu. Civil engineer Prateek Ghimire, who is pursuing higher education in China, has received the “Global Scientific Research Fund” from the prestigious National Natural Science Foundation of China.

This award of 300,000 Chinese yuan (about 6 million Nepali rupees) from the Globally-Oriented Scientific Research Fund is the only such grant honor given in the field of civil engineering in China this year. He is the first Nepali citizen to receive this award.

It is also the first and very rare scientific research fund to be found while studying for a Ph.D.

Ghimire has been awarded the outstanding doctoral research grant, the first in civil engineering, the first in construction engineering materials research, the first among the Ph.D. fellows and the first student among Nepali students in China.

Reacting to the grant award through social media, Ghimire said, “I had never thought that such a big success would be achieved at this age, on the one hand, I feel very proud and I feel that the real struggle of life has now begun.”

He said that his success is also a trust and respect given by the international community to the students produced by the Nepali society.

Ghimire writes, “There are innumerable promising talents in our society, it is also an example that even if we get a small opportunity, we keep making endless efforts to prove ourselves worthy.”
