Kathmandu. Nepal Financial Institution Employees Association has held a morning procession program in Kathmandu on Friday on the occasion of its 35th foundation day. Former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat was the chief guest at the morning procession program held at Bhrikuti Mandap in the capital.
House of Representatives member Sanjay Gautam participated as a special guest in the program held under the chairmanship of Association President Padma Raj Regmi. Nepal Trade Union Congress President Yogendra Kumar Kunwar and former President Laxman Bahadur Basnet participated in the program as special guests.
The chief guest and other guests delivered congratulatory speeches at the program.
The union has demanded respect for labor, stopping attacks on banks and financial institutions/employees, and guaranteeing complete security in the entire financial sector. Similarly, it has also urged to ensure the fundamental rights of workers to organize, bargain collectively and implement the provisions of the Labor Act on working hours/rest/safety.
The association, which has stressed the need to increase the income tax exemption limit, has called for declaring the financial sector a peace zone and abolishing double taxation on social security.
The association has also demanded to ensure workers’ representation in policymaking, stop political interference and fully implement the Labor Act. The association, which has demanded to ratify the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention No. 87, has emphasized the need to create a harmonious industrial environment and control rising inflation.
