Kathmandu. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has initiated the power purchase agreement (PPA) process.
Issuing a notice on Wednesday, the NEA said that the PPA process has been forwarded. According to nea, it has been decided to proceed with the PPA process as per the provisions of grid connection agreement of hydropower projects of more than 10 MW capacity.
According to the notice, as per the decision of the NEA management on May 20, an application should be submitted to the Department of Electricity Trade with updated details and documents within the next 30 days.
After the appointment of Hitman Shakya as executive director, a meeting of the Board of Directors of neA on April 16, 2018 had decided to open ppa to increase the production capacity as per the target of the Energy Development Roadmap approved by the Government of Nepal on December 16, 2081. The same roadmap aims to increase Nepal’s total power generation capacity to 28,500 MW by 2035.
NeA has called for PPA for semi-reservoir (PROR) and bahab-based (ROR) projects. The PPA has 54 projects in the pipeline.
