Kathmandu. The National Assembly has reversed the decision of the House of Representatives on the Federal Civil Service Bill to link civil servants with the Social Security Fund.
The National Assembly overturned the decision of the House of Representatives and replaced the words ‘with the Social Security Fund established in accordance with the prevailing law’ in Section 52 of the Bill with the word ‘With the Health Insurance Board established in accordance with the prevailing law related to health insurance’.
The Federal Civil Service Bill passed by the Legislation Management Committee under the National Assembly on Tuesday states that the health insurance scheme based on contribution will be implemented by associating it with the Health Insurance Board established in accordance with the prevailing law related to health insurance.
Section 52 of the bill introduced by the government has provisions related to the implementation of health insurance scheme. According to the bill, the Government of Nepal will implement a contribution-based health insurance scheme by linking it with the Social Security Fund established in accordance with the prevailing law for the medical treatment of civil servants and family members of civil servants. ’
Making some amendments to the bill, the House of Representatives had added the term ‘Social Security Fund’ or ‘Citizen Investment Fund’. According to this, if the Act had been enacted, the contribution-based health insurance scheme would have been implemented by linking it with the Social Security Fund or The Citizen Investment Fund for the treatment of the medicine treatment of civil servants and family members of civil servants.
