Mudkechula Rural Municipality of Dolpa and Bharatpur Metropolitan City of Chitwan have established sisterly relations. Bharatpur Metropolitan City Mayor Renu Dahal and Mudkechula Rural Municipality Chair Datta Bahadur Shahi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday.
According to Chapter 6 section 26 of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074, sisterly relations have been established as per section 26 (t) of the local government operation act, 2074 BS.
The rural municipality chair and the mayor of the metropolitan municipality signed various nine-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The sister-city relationship has been established for exchange of experiences in various good practices including education, health, agriculture and tourism, infrastructure, culture, joint venture, physical and financial support.
According to the MoU, both the municipalities will promote religious and tourist places locally, market the original agricultural produce produced in both the municipalities simultaneously, and develop joint entrepreneurship to make income generation effective by increasing entrepreneurship.
Mayor Dahal of Bharatpur Metropolitan City said that cooperation would be exchanged between the two municipalities with the establishment of sisterly relations. Mudkechula rural municipality in the remote district has been deprived of development due to lack of government’s eyes, she said.
Similarly, she said that this relationship would help in inter-cultural harmony between the two municipalities. Mudkechula rural municipality chair Shahi expressed the belief that sisterly relations would be fruitful in learning good practices from Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
