MoU signed between CAN Federation and Nepal Chamber of Commerce

Kathmandu. The Federation of Computer Association Of Nepal (CAN) and the Information Technology Committee of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen nepal’s digital economy and promote and develop the information technology sector. The concept of this strategic collaboration has been conceptualized by Chiranjivi Adhikari, Senior Vice President of CAN Federation.

The signing ceremony was signed in the presence of NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal and CAN Federation President Sunaina Ghimire Pandey. This partnership is expected to take the growth of the IT industry to a new height through advocacy, investment, networking and joint initiatives.

Objectives of the MoU and key points of cooperation

The main objective of this agreement is to promote a sustainable and collaborative ecosystem in Nepal’s IT industry. Based on the vision of Chiranjivi Adhikari, senior vice-president of CAN Federation, the initiative aims to achieve the following key objectives:

Policy advocacy and recommendations: Both organizations will engage in constructive policy dialogue with the Government of Nepal and submit joint IT policy recommendations, regulations and digital frameworks to promote Nepal’s digital transformation.

Investment mobilization: MoU covers plans to attract domestic and foreign investment in Nepal’s IT industry. Joint campaigns and investment promotion activities will help establish Nepal as a viable technological destination in South Asia.

IT meetings and networking programs: Every six months, both organizations will co-host industry meetings, technical programs, and forums to promote networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange between professionals, startups, and enterprises.

mutual branding and public engagement: To ensure wider visibility, both organizations will support cross-branding by displaying each other’s logos at technical exhibitions, conferences, and events.

Membership Promotion This collaboration encourages active membership engagement. IT professionals, institutions and startups will be motivated to join both organizations to benefit from resources, exposure and community support.

Joint initiative and implementation by key leaders

The MoU was jointly launched by NCC IT Committee Central Member and Chairman, Bidyan Shrestha and Senior Vice President of CAN Federation and Chairman of ICT Policy Committee Chiranjibi Adhikari.

To ensure effective implementation, both the CAN Federation and the NCC IT Committee will appoint focal coordinators. These representatives will manage the planning, implementation and monitoring of activities under the MoU. Regular quarterly meetings will be held to review progress and plan upcoming collaborative programmes.

This agreement will remain in force for three years from the date of signing and can be extended by mutual written consent.
