Kathmandu. More than 1 billion people have joined china’s old age insurance.
By the end of 2024, 1.7 billion people had joined old age insurance, according to data from china’s Ministry of Citizens and the Office of the National Committee on Age. This number is 639 million more than the previous year 2023. In the last one year, the involvement of rural and enterprise employees in this insurance scheme has also increased.
As of 2024, China has 310.3 million people under the age of 60 and 65, and 220.2 million people over the age of 65. Which is 22 percent and 15.6 percent of the total population respectively. The average life expectancy in China is 79 years.
In China, the facilities available to the elderly have been increased. A total of 7.99 million beds have been provided in 406,000 health facilities for their treatment.
