Michael Fo appointed as CEO of Ncell

Kathmandu. Michael Foley has been appointed as the new CEO of Ncell. His appointment will be effective from Kartik 15, 2082. Syed Enamul Kabir, who will take over as the acting CEO of the company, will continue in his key role as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the company.

With more than two decades of senior leadership experience in the telecommunications sector, Foley has a remarkable track record of success with efficient leadership at major companies in the sector.

Prior to joining Ncell, Foley was the Head of French Africa at Airtel, managing seven Francophone African markets. Prior to that, he served as the CEO of Telenor Pakistan (TP), leading the company through difficult business conditions, achieving remarkable success with market-leading growth, profitability, and employee engagement.

His previous leadership roles include CEO positions at Grameenphone (Bangladesh) and Telenor (Bulgaria), where he led a significant business transformation that saw subscribers grow to over 70 million subscribers and over 60% growth in EBITDA.

Foley has also served as the Chairman of Tamir Microfinance (now EasyPaisa, Pakistan) and Chairman of Telenor Health. He is currently the Chairman of Watu DRC SA, a subsidiary of Watu, Africa’s leading asset microfinance company.

Sharing his thoughts on the appointment, Foley said, “I am extremely happy and honoured to take up this responsibility of Ncell in Kathmandu. Ncell, a critical infrastructure in the country, has immense potential to drive digital transformation, enhance economic competitiveness and attract foreign investment, creating new opportunities for the people of Nepal. Therefore, it is imperative to manage these critical assets responsibly to serve the nation, strengthen our services, and most importantly, empower the next generation. ”
