Meeting between NEA Chairman Ojha and Bhutan’s Deputy Governor Choden

Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority Chairman Sharad Ojha and Bhutan Royal Monetary Authority Deputy Governor Ugen Choden have discussed bilateral cooperation and mutual knowledge and experience exchange in insurance.

In the meeting between Nepal Insurance Authority Chairman Ojha and Bhutan Deputy Governor Choden today at the Central Office of Nepal Insurance Authority, Kupandol, Lalitpur, the current situation of the insurance sector of Nepal and Bhutan, Nepal’s experience in reinsurance, risk-based capital and risk-based supervision practiced by Nepal, and strengthening bilateral relations, among other issues.

On the occasion, Nepal Insurance Authority Chairman Sharad Ojha informed that Nepal is practicing risk-based capital and risk-based supervision in the insurance sector and requested Bhutan to provide necessary assistance in this regard. He informed that he is ready to do so.

Chairman Ojha said that the Authority is ready to further strengthen the bilateral relationship with the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan in the coming days and exchange good practices to give a new height to the insurance sector.

Ugen Choden, Deputy Governor of the Royal Monetary Authority, which is also the regulatory body of the insurance sector of Bhutan, informed that the knowledge and experience gained by the Nepal Insurance Authority in relation to risk-based capital, risk-based supervision and reinsurance will be beneficial for Bhutan as well.

Deputy Governor Choden expressed his commitment to further strengthen the relationship with the Nepal Insurance Authority for the overall development of the insurance sector. .

The meeting was attended by Nepal Insurance Authority Executive Director Sushil Dev Subedi, Director Pujan Dhungel (Officer), and other officials, as well as high-ranking officials of the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan.
