Kathmandu. India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has given a big shock to its customers. Maruti Suzuki India has announced that it will increase the prices of its vehicles by up to 4 percent from April.
The company has announced in a regulatory filing that the prices of various models of Maruti Suzuki will be increased today, i.e. on March 17. According to the information received, the price increase of the cars has become necessary due to the increase in the production cost and operating expenses of various models of Maruti Suzuki cars. The cost of inputs and the price of raw materials are also considered to be the reason for this increase. The company told the National Stock Exchange of India and the BSE, “While the company has made continuous efforts to minimize the impact of input costs and prices on customers, it is necessary to pass on some of the increased prices to the market.”
Maruti Suzuki’s announcement comes at a time when the Indian automotive industry is facing pressure due to rising raw material prices and supply chain challenges. Maruti Suzuki, which has a market share of about 40 percent, is also adjusting to the changing market conditions. According to experts, some other car manufacturers may also increase the prices of their cars in the coming weeks.
However, Maruti Suzuki has not clarified which car models it will increase by how much. However, it has been announced that the prices of all the models included in the company’s portfolio will increase by about 4 percent. This will depend on various models, from the cheapest car Alto to the most expensive car Invicto.
Earlier this month, the company had launched its cheapest car Alto K10 with 6 airbags. This means that now all variants of Alto K10 will have the facility of 6 airbags. With this new update, the prices of all variants of Alto K10 have changed. This car has become more expensive than before. However, despite this, its starting price in India is Rs 4.23 lakh (ex-showroom).
