Kathmandu. Life Insurance Association of Nepal (LNI) has got a new leadership.
The sixth annual general meeting held on September 12, 2082 at Hotel Barahi in Thamel elected an eight-member new working committee under the chairmanship of Prabin Raman Parajuli. Parajuli, the CEO of Nepal Life Insurance, is the immediate past vice-president of the association. He was the treasurer before that.
The AGM elected Prakash Bikram Khatri (CEO of Surya Jyoti Life) as the vice-chair and Narayan Lohani (owner of Reliable Nepal) as the secretary. Khatri and Lohani were previously secretaries and members respectively.
The AGM has re-elected Dinesh Lal Shrestha, Chief Executive Officer of Asian Life Insurance Company as the Treasurer. The executive committee members include Manoj Lal Karna, MD – Himalayan Life Insurance, Sundar Panthi (MD – Rastriya Life Insurance Company) and Pranay Kumar (MD – LIC Nepal). Karna is a new member of the working committee while Pranay Kumar was a member of the outgoing working committee. The government-owned National Life Insurance Company has been elected as an executive committee member for the first time.
The term of office bearers and members of the newly elected working committee will be two years.
The association has appointed a new leadership following the completion of its tenure under the leadership of Citizen Life Insurance Company’s Chief Executive Officer Poshan Raj Poudel. As per the statute of the association, the president can hold the leadership for only one term. The Paudel-led executive committee was elected in the third annual general meeting held on November 22, 2022.
Outgoing President Poudel thanked the association’s members, regulatory bodies and well-wishers for helping to make his tenure fruitful. During his tenure, the Association had organized two international level insurance conferences in collaboration with Insurance Association of Nepal and Insurance Authority. This was the first time that the conference related to inclusive insurance was held in Nepal.
In addition, the association conducted training for top managers in collaboration with FALIA, a non-profit organization of Japanese insurance companies. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed to establish institutional relationship with FALIA and collaborate for an awareness campaign on insurance at school level in Nepal.
