Kathmandu. Krishna Janmashtami, which is celebrated every year on the day of Bhadra Krishna Ashtami, is being celebrated today by worshiping Lord Krishna. People of Sanatan Dharma celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna by remembering his birthday. According to the Puranas, Lord Vishnu was born as the eighth avatar in Revati Nakshatra at the midnight of Bhadra Krishna Ashtami in Dwapar Yuga.
It is said that Narayan took the form of Krishna to put an end to demons, including Kansa, according to the tradition of God taking different forms as iniquity increases in the world. Born as the son of Vasudeva and Devaki in kansa’s dungeon, Arjuna is famous for knowledge of Gita before the Battle of Ballila and Mahabharata in Mathura.
According to the Puranas, Krishna maintained peace in the world by suppressing Kansa and his associates Shakat, Bhanjan, Trinavarta, Vatsasura, Bakasura Putana etc. According to what a person does, he gets fruit. The message of The Gita given by Lord Krishna is not to worry about the work done.
On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping Krishna, worshiping him and celebrating him. Today, devotees visit the Temples of Sri Krishna in India and Nepal.
Krishna Janmashtami is called 7th, 8th, Gokulashtami, Ashtami Rohini, Shri Krishna Jayanti, Shri Jayanti or sometimes Janmashtami in common parlance. Krishna Jayanti is an annual festival celebrated by Hindus on the occasion of krishna’s birthday as the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On the day of Krishna Janmashtami, Hindus worship Lord Krishna and celebrate it with reverence and devotion.
Lord Krishna, the founder of knowledge yoga, karma yoga and bhakti yoga, was born in the midnight of Bhadrakrishna Ashtami according to the Hindu calendar in the Dwapar Yuga, so this day is called Krishna Janmashtami and the night is called Mohratri. On the day of Janmashtami, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Krishna in Krishna temples of the kingdom, preaching, bhajan-kirtan and especially women fasting and staying awake throughout the night.
