Kathmandu. Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank Limited in collaboration with Sarvodaya Project, Inclusive Letters and Research has provided financial literacy to the visually impaired people living in different parts of Kathmandu on Saturday. Sushil Poudel, Head of Branding and CSR Department of the Bank provided financial literacy on the importance of savings, personal budget formulation, family budget formulation, financial discipline, economic goals, future investment opportunities, digital transactions, digital fraud etc.
More than 40 visually impaired people attended the event. Speaking at the conclusion of the financial literacy program, visually impaired Krishna Khatri Aviral said that due to lack of financial literacy on time, he did not transact through the bank, he had to give the money earned and saved to his friends and he was not even convinced that the money would not be saved.
Visually impaired people also said that they will now be able to open an account in the bank like other people, so from now on their financial transactions will be done only through the bank. Speaking at the same event, visually impaired Bikram Patharia said that after the financial literacy program, he has the hope that small savings can do big things in the future.
Speaking on the occasion, Saugat Wagle of Sarvodaya Project thanked Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank for providing mobile banking, ATM card and other facilities to the visually impaired. Wagle said that he is also visually impaired and is enjoying banking services safely by getting banking services like other people.
Kamana Sewa Bikas Bank is bringing swabhimaan savings accounts into operation targeting the visually impaired. According to the bank, visually impaired people who have opened this account can use mobile banking, ATM card and other facilities like other people. The bank said it does not require any additional documents or any other witness to open the account as it is visually impaired and also provides the terms of operation of the account in Braille.
