Kathmandu. Jana Utthan Community Microfinance Institution celebrated the 15th anniversary of its establishment on Chaitra 27 with various programs. The 15th anniversary celebration and training program for banking community members organized by the institution’s branch office Butwal was held at the Asian Party Palace, Butwal, Rupandehi under the chairmanship of Dr. Man Bahadur VK, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the financial institution.
Speaking at the program, the Chairman of the financial institution, Dr. Man Bahadur Bishwakarma expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Nepal Rastra Bank, various regulatory bodies, the Board of Directors, the founders, general shareholders, esteemed individuals, well-wishers, employees, business partners, and all banking community members associated with the organization for their unwavering trust and goodwill in this organization, expressing his commitment to provide stronger, simpler, and more reliable services in the coming days while remaining steadfast towards the targeted objectives.
At the said program, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Jana Utthan Community Microfinance Financial Institution Limited and Lumbini Commerce Campus, Butwal, with the aim of building careers in the fields of microfinance, community finance, entrepreneurship, and green development for students studying on the campus and creating a platform for the promotion of those fields.
Lumbini Commerce An agreement has also been signed to provide employment opportunities to those who have studied at the campus, and to provide entrepreneurship and financial literacy to campus students through microfinance. Lumbini Banijya Campus Butwal Chief Dr. Tara Prasad Upadhyay said that he has received information that microfinance has done very important work and said that the purpose will be fulfilled with the cooperation agreement. He urged people to pay attention to this by saying that knowledge cannot be achieved without skills and technology. Anita Bishwakarma, Deputy Chief of the Joint Savings Center Butwal 11 Group, said that she was happy to receive loans without collateral and at normal interest from microfinance. She said that work is being done to become entrepreneurs with the money taken from here. Chair BK and trainer Yagya Bikram Shahi also provided training in the program. The organization’s Chief Executive Officer, Sunil Kumar Rai, highlighted the services provided by the organization to its service-seeking members.
Former President Baburam Bishwakarma suggested that the amount borrowed from microfinance should be invested only in productive sectors. He urged people to become self-reliant and not rely on rumors that they do not have to pay loans.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary, various social activities were organized under social responsibility through all 39 branch offices of the organization, including distributing seeds and seedlings to members of the organization, blood donation programs, cleaning and dustbin distribution programs, food distribution, dustbin distribution in temples, dustbin distribution for waste management, distribution of sports equipment, cleaning and weeding programs in temple premises, interaction programs with customers, distribution of relief materials for the mentally ill, distribution of bags and stationery materials for poor and meritorious students, distribution of mats and educational materials, distribution of fans and swings in Manav Sewa Ashram, distribution of chairs to temples, distribution of dustbins for thori market management, distribution of educational materials for children of the Chepang community, etc. In addition, all branch offices organized creative activities. The organization’s Chief Executive Officer Sunil Kumar Ray informed that the organization celebrated the work.
The financial institution, in its 15th year of journey, has been providing services to about 59,983 service recipients through 39 branch offices in a total of 19 districts, including 11 Terai districts from Parsa in the east to Kanchanpur in the west and 8 additional hilly districts, and has also been providing various skill-based training, financial literacy campaigns and social responsibility-related services based on the demands of the group members. Janutthan, which has a Class D license from Nepal Rastra Bank, has a working area in 19 districts.
