The financial sector is very sensitive. However, some people do not understand this sensitivity, which has also created negative perceptions among citizens,’ Governor Adhikari said, ‘Therefore, the media should also disseminate news based on truth and facts.’

He said that the central bank has been conducting various programs to ensure that accurate information is disseminated and that false information is not spread. He also expressed his gratitude for the support of the media during both easy and difficult situations during his tenure as governor.

‘The role of economic journalists in the economy is important. Citizens form their opinions based on the way journalists communicate economic and financial information. If what journalists understand is correct, the information will also be correct,’ said Governor Adhikari. ‘How does the central bank collect the data that is made public? How long is the data that is made public? We should get information about all such issues and interpret and analyze it.’

He said that if accurate information is disseminated, citizens will take the right decisions and help in planning as needed. He said that accurate information flow is necessary as even short content presented on social media now has a lot of impact on the market.

In the inaugural session of the interactive program, Executive Director of the National Bank, Tulsi Prasad Ghimire, said that the financial sector is a subject related to the trust of the citizens.

The financial sector is a more sensitive sector than other sectors. It is a subject related to the trust of the citizens. If the citizens do not have trust in it, it will affect the entire economic and financial sector,’ Ghimire said, ‘If truthful information is brought out on issues related to the economic and financial sector, it will also help the central bank.’

This program, which mainly aims to enhance the capacity of economic journalists, will be conducted until Monday. Nafiz chairperson Menuka Karki said that such programs have helped in enhancing the capacity of economic journalists. She said that Nafiz will organize such programs in collaboration with various stakeholders in the coming days as well.
