Kathmandu. Tax and immigration consultancy Nomad Capitalist has released a list of the world’s most powerful passports.
The Irish passport has topped the Nomad Capitalist list. This is the first time that a North American passport has topped the Nomad Capitalist list.
This list analyzes passports from 199 countries around the world. It also includes the passport of Nepal.
According to CNBC, the format for analyzing the passports of Nomad Capitalists and their international power is different from other categories. Which only values their visa-free travel ability.
In today’s ever-changing world, the Nomad Capitalist Index tracks how each country’s passports are evolving on an annual basis. It looks at how countries’ global influence is changing. Nomad Capitalist ranks passports from around the world based on five key factors: visa-free travel, taxes, global perception, dual citizenship and personal freedom.
The Nomad Capitalist Index 2025 ranked Ireland at the top with a ‘Nomad Passport Score’ of 109. Last year, it ranked Switzerland at the top. However, this year, Ireland has overtaken Switzerland.
Nomad Capitalist ranked Ireland at No. 1 in 2020, along with Luxembourg and Sweden. “Ireland rose to this rank due to the country’s strong international reputation, business-friendly tax policies and overall citizenship flexibility,” Javier Correa, research associate at Nomad Capitalist, told CNBC Travel.
Ireland has been recognized as the world’s most powerful passport 2025. The index ranks Irish citizens as having the right to live and work freely in the EU and especially the UK. After Ireland, the top 10 most powerful passports are Switzerland, Greece, Portugal, Malta, Italy, Luxembourg, Finland, Norway, UAE, New Zealand and New Zealand. Some of these countries have achieved the same rank.
Nepal’s passport is ranked 180th in the Nomad Capitalist index. Nepal has received an average score of 39.5. Neighboring country India is ranked 148th with 47.5 points and China is ranked 119th with 57 points.
Afghanistan is at the bottom of the Nomad Capitalist index. Afghanistan has scored only 27 points.
Singapore’s passport is the most powerful in the Henley Passport Index. The Nomad Capitalist Index ranks Singapore’s passport at 26th place. –Agency
