Kathmandu. Nepal Insurance Authority, Koshi Province has organized a discussion and interaction program related to insurance in Shadananda Municipality of Bhojpur. In the interaction, questions were raised on topics such as third party insurance, tax exemption, calculation of bonus of life insurance, fees and process of agriculture and crop insurance, savings and investment aspects of life insurance, and targets set to the employees.
Deputy Mayor of Shadananda Municipality, Pramila Rai, said although all citizens are familiar with the insurance scheme, the local levels should take initiative for its effective expansion.
She drew the attention of the government towards the need of providing clear information about the terms and conditions of the insurance, the need of strict regulation to prevent the wrong practices by the employees and agents, and the need to take legal action against the intermediaries involved in the activities.
Responding to the queries raised, NTA Chief Preeti Dev urged the participants to avail the insurance service only through a licensed company or authorized person. She said that while registering the claim, it is mandatory to submit the exact details of the incident and the complaint related to insurance can be registered online.
According to him, the government has been providing 50 to 80 per cent subsidy on agricultural insurance. She also urged the people to be patient as it may take some time to pay the claim due to the damage assessment in the private insurance.
Deputy Mayor Pramila Rai was the chief guest of the program. Ward No. Sang Demba Rai, Chairman of Ward No. 3 Ward No. 9 Chairperson Ngima Sherpa; Chairman of Ward No. 8 Subash Tamang, presenter Sachin Rai and program host Milan Pokhrel along with local stakeholders were present on the occasion.
