Kathmandu. So far, only 22 per cent of the physical damage caused by the Genji agitation has been paid by the insurance claims.
According to the data made public by the Nepal Insurance Authority, the non-life insurance companies have to pay around Rs 23.45 billion for a total of 3,303 insurance claims due to the physical and other damages caused during the GenG agitation on September 7 and 24. Out of this, the insurance companies have so far paid the claim amount of Rs 5.18 billion to the insured. In this way, the companies have paid only 22.09 percent of the total claim amount so far.
According to the latest data received from 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance companies, out of the total claim amount paid by the insurance companies, about Rs 3.82 billion out of Rs 19.02 billion claimed for 710 insurance claims have been paid from property insurance and Rs 1.22 billion out of Rs 3.47 billion claimed for 2,311 insurance claims have been paid by the insurance companies.
Similarly, out of 225 claims for engineering and contract risk insurance, about Rs 75 million out of Rs 55.47 crore has been paid, about Rs 15.5 million out of 12 claims for transport insurance and about Rs 55 million out of 45 claims for other insurance claims.

Nepal Reinsurance Company (NBCL) has paid Rs 3.02 billion in advance to the non-life insurance companies to pay the insurance claims for the physical and other damages caused during the GenG agitation.
According to the latest data, a total of 2,862 claims received by Nepal Reinsurance Company from 14 non-life insurance companies amounted to Rs 16.62 billion.
