Kathmandu. Insurance claims of over Rs 4.75 billion have been made for property damaged by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains on October 3.
As per the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), 13 non-life insurance companies and two micro non-life insurance companies have received claims worth Rs 3.78 billion for 734 claims. Shikhar Insurance has claimed the highest amount of total claims so far.
According to NEA, Shikhar Insurance has claimed more than Rs 61 crore. This amount is for 59 claims.
Similarly, United Ajod Insurance has to pay Rs 60.56 crore for 33 claims and Siddhartha Premier Insurance has to pay Rs 50.94 crore for 69 claims. NLG Insurance has to pay Rs 50.6 crore for 46 claims, while National Insurance has to pay Rs 30.5 crore for 26 claims.
Similarly, Himalayan Everest Insurance collected Rs 37.57 crore for 35 claims, Oriental Insurance Rs 21.43 crore for 213 claims, IGI Prudential Insurance for 64 claims, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Rs 12.44 crore, Neco Insurance Rs 12.10 crore for 31 claims, Nepal Insurance Rs 10.69 crore for 45 claims. Prabhu Insurance has to pay Rs 10.46 crore for eight claims and Sanima GIC Insurance has to pay Rs 2.85 crore for 34 claims.
On the other hand, Trust Micro Insurance will have to pay Rs 820,000 for three claims and Star Micro Insurance will have to pay Rs 8 lakhs for five claims.
So far, no company has paid the claim of the damaged insured property in the October 18 floods.
