Insurance Authority’s judicial performance slows, only 22.5% of complaints disposed of in 11 months

Kathmandu. Although the Insurance Authority of Nepal has been receiving complaints, the process of settlement has been slow.

Although the number of complaints has increased, only 22.5 percent of the complaints have been disposed of in the 11 months of the current fiscal year till May. According to the insurance report, 499 complaints have been registered till May. Of these, only 113 complaints have been disposed of. This is only 22.65 per cent of the total complaints.

According to the NRA, there are a total of 499 complaints including 287 in the previous fiscal year, 132 in the central office, 77 in the state office and three in the appeal this year. A total of 437 complaints were filed with the NRA till May last year.

Similarly, out of the total complaints filed in the current fiscal year, the NRA has disposed of a total of 113 complaints with the decision of 77 cases and consent of 36. Till May last year, 150 complaints had been disposed of.

According to the NRA, 386 complaints are yet to be disposed of. The remaining number of complaints is 77.35 per cent of the total complaints.

Similarly, the central office of the NRA has also brought the judicial bench into operation from June 15. The bench aims to expedite the settlement of complaints related to insurance claims filed with the AUTHORITY.
