Kathmandu. The year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 1.11 percent in mid-October 2018. It was 5.6 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year. In the review month, food and beverage inflation stood at 3.32 percent and non-food and service inflation stood at 3.69 percent.
In the same period of the previous year, inflation of these groups was 9.10 percent and 3.65 percent, respectively. The four-month average inflation of the fiscal year 2082/83 was 1.53 percent. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the average inflation rate was 4.59 percent. In the review month, the Consumer Price Index of Ghee and Oil sub-group under the food and beverage group increased by 5.25 percent, non-alcoholic beverages by 3.61 percent and milk and egg by 1.97 percent. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the vegetable sub-group decreased by 14.43 percent, spices by 7.85 percent and pulses by 5.36 percent.
In the review month, the year-on-year Consumer Price Index of the rural areas increased by 0.66 percent and the urban areas by 1.26 percent.
Year-on-year consumer price inflation in Koshi Province stood at 1.80 percent, Madhesh Province 1.73 percent, Bagmati Province 0.81 percent, Gandaki Province 0.37 percent, Lumbini Province 1.27 percent, Karnali Province 1.08 percent and Sudurpaschim Province 0.26 percent in review month.
