“As a close neighbour, co-democracies and long-standing development partner, India will continue to work with Nepal for the welfare and prosperity of both our countries and peoples,” the statement said. ’

Sushila Karki, the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal, was sworn in as the first interim woman Prime Minister of Nepal late on Friday night. President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Karki.

After several days of discussions with the protesters, leaders, President Paudel and other legal experts, Karki’s name was finally agreed on Friday evening. Karki replaces KP Sharma Oli, who resigned from his post on Tuesday amid massive youth protests against corruption charges and social media ban.
