The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Odisha, has demanded strict action against the university after one more Nepali student committed suicide within a span of two months. In a statement, the ABVP said the state government remained silent even when serious incidents were repeated and called for immediate stern action.

Expressing deep grief over the incident, ABVP Odisha questioned the silence of the state government. ABVP national general secretary Virendrasinh Solanki said, “Why is the state government silent when such a serious incident is repeated again?”

Odisha East ABVP state secretary Deeptimayee Pratishthairi said the frequent incidents of suicides in the university have raised questions about its credibility. She demanded immediate action against the university administration and demanded justice for the deceased student.

The body of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal was found in the hostel of KIIT in February last year. Nepali students protested demanding arrest and action against the culprits for his murder. They were forced to leave the university and return home. The hostel warden had threatened to take action against the Nepali students involved in the protest and threatened that the results would not be good.

There has been an increase in the number of physical and mental torture of Nepali students who have gone to Indian universities for quality higher education. Nepali students studying in Indian universities are feeling insecure due to the death of two nepali students in the hostel of the same university in a short span of time.
