India extends Rs 4,000 crore concessional loan for Bhutan’s energy projects

Kathmandu. India will provide a loan of Rs 4,000 crore for Bhutan’s energy projects. This loan will be given at a concessional rate.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhutan, many agreements were signed between the two countries and many announcements were made. The Ministry of External Affairs of India has given information about this. Prime Minister Modi and Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk jointly inaugurated the 1020 MW Punatsaongchu-II Hydropower Project.

The two countries also agreed to resume work on the main dam of the 1200 MW Puntsongchu-I Hydroelectric Project. It will be the largest hydropower project jointly developed by the two countries.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between India and Bhutan on cooperation in the field of renewable energy, health and medicine. Apart from this, land has been announced to be provided for the construction of temples, monasteries and guest houses in Bhutan.
