IME Pay and Khalti launch integrated service, now ‘Khalti by IME’

Kathmandu. IME Pay and Khalti Wallet have been merged to start an integrated transaction called ‘Khalti by IME’ from today.

After being included in a single app in this way, 12.7 million customers have been connected to the transaction. With this merger, the paid-up capital of the new company ‘IME Khalti Limited’ has reached more than Rs 540 million. Khalti by IME has become the largest digital wallet in the country. This merger will add a new dimension to the Nepali digital economy. The two wallets had been providing various digital payment services for almost a decade before the merger.

Known as the only interest-paying wallet, IME Pay was popular in services such as remittance, indrive payments, while Khalti movie booking, event ticketing and its innovative features were preferred by the youth.

Now these two wallets will be merged to provide their excellent services in a more sophisticated, easy, simple and secure way.

The facility of migrating to Khalti by IME is available for former IME Pay users. Through this process, the amount, interest, reward points and all the details in the IME Pay wallet will be transferred to the new app. Khalti users will be able to get a new experience by updating their app.

IME Pay was operated under the IME Group. On the other hand, Khalti, founded by four co-founders, was later joined by corporate investors like WorldLink, Triveni Group.

Chairman of IME Digital Solutions Krishna Prasad Sharma has expressed the belief that IME Khalti Limited, formed by the merger of IME Pay and Khalti, will take the potential of Digital Nepal to a new height.

Khalti Chairman Manoj Kumar Agrawal said the merger is a historic step for the long-term prosperity of the Nepali digital financial sector and IME Khalti Limited will usher in a new era of financial access across the country.

Vinay Khadka, CHIEF Executive Officer of IME Khalti Limited, said that there are more plans for expanding digital access, digital literacy and inclusion.

Both the companies will formally announce the merger by organizing a special program today.

IME Pay received Digital Services ICT Award 2024, HRM Award for Corporate Excellence in the FinTech Category 2023 and Visa Leadership Conclave Nepal 2023 in Excellence in Fintech Partnership Award.

Similarly, Khalti received the WITSA Global Innovation & Tech Excellence Awards awards in 2022, 2023 and 2024 as the country’s largest digital payment service provider (2 consecutive years from NCHL) and Nepal Rastra Bank in recognition of its contribution to digital transactions.
