IGI Prudential Insurance starts paying claim for damages caused by GenZ agitation

Kathmandu. IGI Prudential Insurance has started paying claims for damages incurred during the GenG agitation.

According to the company, it has been receiving reports of damages caused due to mob riots, vandalism and arson that took place in different parts of the country including the capital Kathmandu on September 7 and 24. “So far, a total of 192 claims have been reported to the company and surveyors (damage assessors) have been appointed for all the claims,” said the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yugesh Bhakta Bade Shrestha. Out of this, the company has so far paid Rs 30 crore as claim. ’

CEO Shrestha said that the company has mobilized a team including the provincial chiefs of all seven provinces and the department heads of the claims department for internal evaluation of the damages. “In the case of others, surveyors are being assigned and evaluated,” he said.

The company has appealed to all insured people to help by providing necessary documents for easy and speedy claim payment in this hour of grief. CEO Shrestha said, “We are asking the concerned insured to provide the necessary documents to the insured for other claims. ’

CEO Shrestha clarified that the company has not had any problem as the company has provided adequate reinsurance for the said claims.

The Cabinet meeting held on Sunday evening had decided to direct the Insurance Authority to provide up to 50 percent compensation in advance. The NRA had also taken initiative to expedite the payment of claims for losses caused by the agitation. The authority has already warned of taking action against the company and surveyor delaying the claim payment.
