Kathmandu. New Delhi: The UNITED States has urged both India and Pakistan to work towards a responsible solution in the wake of the tense atmosphere created after the Pahalgam terror attack. After the attack, the US government has expressed support for India but has not yet criticized Pakistan.

India has blamed Pakistan for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Kashmir on April 22. In this attack, 26 tourists were shot dead. Pakistan has denied India’s allegations and demanded an impartial probe into the terror attack.

“This is an evolving situation and we are closely monitoring the developments,” a State Department spokesman said. We are in touch with the governments of India and Pakistan at many levels. The United States urged both sides to work together towards a responsible solution. The US strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and washington stands with India.

India is an important partner of the US in Asia. Washington aims to counter China’s growing influence and for this it has good relations with India in the region.

On the other hand, after the withdrawal of US troops from neighboring Afghanistan in 2021, its importance to Washington decreased, but Pakistan has also been an ally of america for a long time. Michael Kugelman, a South Asian affairs expert and author of the foreign policy magazine, told Reuters that India is now a much closer partner to the US than Pakistan. This could raise concerns in Islamabad that if India retaliates militarily, the US may sympathise with its counter-terrorism measures and not try to stand in its way. ’

According to Kugelman, the US is already deeply involved in the Ukraine-Russia war and the Israel-Hamas war, and is engaged in diplomatic efforts to end both wars. It can be said that the Trump administration is facing a lot on the global stage and at least in the early days of tensions with India, it can leave Pakistan alone.

Hussain Haqqani, a former Pakistani ambassador to the US and a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute think tank, also said the US was not in a mood to intervene in the matter. Haqqani said, “There have been long-standing complaints that terrorism has flourished or received support from across the Indian border. ’

Pakistan has long felt that India wants to disintegrate it. Both countries go into a state of frenzy every year. This time, the US has no interest in calming the situation.

China also condemned the attack. However, China remained silent on Pakistan’s involvement in it. According to experts, China is much closer to Pakistan than India, but it is forced to stand with India to face the challenge posed by the US on the economic front. If India takes retaliatory military action, it is unlikely to face any resistance from China. Because in the midst of a tax war with the US, Beijing does not want its trade relations with India to be affected.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to bring down the Pahalgam attackers from hell and said those planning and executing the terror attack will be punished beyond their imagination. The People of India are demanding military action against Pakistan.

After the Pahalgam terror attack, India and Pakistan have taken many actions against each other. India has suspended the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty. Which regulates the sharing of water of the Indus River and its tributaries.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has closed its airspace for Indian airlines. Indian security agencies have claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack, the resistance front group of Pakistan-based terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen. -With the help of agency
