Kathmandu. Copper and gold deposits have been discovered in northern British Columbia, Canada. These precious metals have been found only 59 feet below the surface of the ground. It has rekindled the world’s interest in Canada’s mineral sector.

Before 2024, drilling had never been done at this place called Aurora. Now there has been great success. The discovery will strengthen Canada’s economy and increase its dominance in the mining sector.

According to a report published in Earth.com, the discovery, carried out by the Amarak Resources Project, is located on the northern edge of the Golden Triangle. The region is known for its geographical potential. However, due to harsh regional conditions there has not been much research. These findings indicate a repeat of large-scale research in this part of Canada.

This discovery was made in a hole called JP24057. Which starts just 59 feet below the surface and extends to a depth of 131 feet. It has an average of 1.24 grams of gold and 0.38 percent copper per tonne.

This level of mineralization at such shallow depths is a rare occurrence in established mining areas. Drilling deep through the same hole yielded good results. There were 1.97 grams of gold and 0.49 percent copper found at a depth of 190 feet.

Aurora tudogan is on the northern edge of the volcanic arc. Recent climate change has opened up new avenues for seasonal drilling. What makes this discovery particularly timely is the combination of infrastructure preparedness and global market trends. The presence of infrastructure around it reduces the cost of mining.

Due to electrification, renewable energy and data center expansion, the demand for copper is expected to double by 2040. Copper-intensive applications such as electric vehicles require three times more copper than conventional petrol vehicles. Head grades are declining in existing global porphyry mines. As a result, deposits are becoming more attractive in areas such as British Columbia.

The final measure of Aurora’s success is yet to be determined through ongoing drilling. However, its early parameters of strong grade, shallow depth and supportive infrastructure have made it one of the most promising copper-gold deposits in Canada. – Agency
