How many units of shares of which companies can a stock dealer buy and sell at a time? Such are the provisions

Kathmandu. At present, there are two stock dealers (securities traders) operating in Nepal. These stock dealers operate as ‘market makers’. The role of these stock dealers is considered important in maintaining balance in the market.

At present, there are citizen stock dealers and Nabil stock dealers operating in nepal’s stock market. The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) has implemented the Procedure related to the operation of stock dealers, 2077 BS. In this procedure, there is a clear provision regarding the operation of the transaction of the stock dealer.

According to the procedure, the result of the purchase and sale of shares by the stock dealer has also been determined. Which is based on the paid-up capital of companies listed in NEPSE.

Stock dealers can buy and sell up to 50,000 units of shares of companies with a paid-up capital of more than Rs 8 billion at a time.

Similarly, stock dealers can buy and sell up to 40,000 units of companies with a paid-up capital of more than Rs 5 billion and less than Rs 8 billion.

Similarly, stock dealers can buy and sell up to 30,000 units of companies with paid-up capital of more than Rs 2 billion and less than Rs 5 billion.

According to the procedure, stock dealers can buy up to 25,000 units of shares of companies with paid-up capital of more than Rs 1 billion and less than Rs 2 billion, up to 20,000 units of companies with paid-up capital of more than Rs 500 million and less than Rs 1 billion, and up to 10,000 units of shares of companies with paid-up capital of more than Rs 200 million and less than Rs 500 million.

Stock dealers cannot include companies with paid-up capital of less than Rs 200 million in regular transactions. Stock dealers cannot enter a minimum purchase or sale order of less than 1,000 units in companies with paid-up capital.

According to the procedure, stock dealers will not be allowed to enter the system for more than one day.
