Kathmandu. So far, non-life insurance companies have claimed more than Rs 4.25 crore in the damage caused by the riots during the protest of the royalists in Kathmandu on March 15 last year.
Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA) has made public the data received from the insurers till June 15, 50 claims have been filed in 12 insurance companies for the damage caused due to the riots. The claim companies have to pay Rs 42.18 million.
The national insurance company has claimed the highest amount of damage caused by the riots. The company has to pay Rs 9.16 million for two claims. The company has so far paid Rs 1.66 million for one claim and rs 7.5 million for one claim.
Siddhartha Premier Insurance has claimed the second highest amount. According to nea, the company has to pay Rs 7.67 million for eight claims. Siddhartha has already paid Rs 28.69 lakh for six claims.
Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has to pay Rs 7.54 million for seven claims. The company has so far paid Rs 5.58 million for six claims.
Similarly, Neco Insurance has to pay Rs 5.2 million for four claims, Oriental Insurance Rs 4.75 million for one claim, Himalayan Everest Insurance Rs 2.2 million for two claims, National Insurance Rs 2.075 million for 11 claims and IGI Prudential Insurance Rs 1.496 million for six claims. So far, Neco Insurance has paid Rs 2.94 million for two claims, National Insurance Rs 576,000 for six claims and IGI Prudential Insurance rs 1.066 million for three claims. Oriental and Himalayan Everest have not paid a single claim so far.
According to nea, Nepal Insurance has already paid Rs 678,000 for a claim and Sanima GIC Insurance is yet to pay Rs 600,000 for each claim.
Similarly, Shikhar Insurance has paid Rs 498,000 for all the five claims while Prabhu Insurance is yet to pay Rs 110,000 for two claims.
Now the insurance companies are yet to pay Rs 25.58 million for 20 claims.
