Historic decision to open Up Nepalis to invest in manufacturing industries abroad

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Government of Nepal is going to open the way for the investors of export-oriented industries to invest abroad.

Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel has informed in the budget speech that domestic industries producing export-oriented goods will be allowed to invest up to 25 percent of the total export amount abroad.

Minister Poudel has announced in the Meeting of the House of Representatives that permission will be given to build processing factories abroad by selling or exporting semi-processed goods from Nepal to foreign countries. For this, up to 25 percent of the exports will be allowed to invest abroad.”

He also informed that 50 percent of the profit earned from foreign investment has to be returned to the country. Foreign investment will have to be approved by the Investment Board.
