Kathmandu. The Health Insurance Board has urged all the local levels to inform about the need for the first service point of health insurance. Issuing a notice today, the Insurance Board has urged all the local levels to inform about the matter.
According to Sub-section (6) of Section 9 of the Health Insurance Act, 2074 (First Amendment, 2082), there will be a service provider health institution in the company at every local level for the purpose of the first service point. “As per the same arrangement, it is requested to inform the Insurance Board about the need for the first service point of health insurance in which service providers under the local level and how long the criteria for the first service point can be completed,” reads the notice.
It has been clarified in the notice that the Insurance Board will take necessary decision regarding adding a new first service point based on the demand for the first service point received from the local level and the commitment to meet the minimum insufficient criteria of the proposed first service point within a month.
In order to implement the health insurance program effectively and smoothly, the Insurance Board has made arrangements to get the facility of first service from all the government health institutions licensed as the first service points across the country. There is a legal and practical provision that federal and specialist hospitals, specialized hospitals and establishments cannot remain the first service point of health insurance.
Keeping this in mind, the Insurance Board has already written to the local levels in the past to pay attention to the condition of operating the first service point from basic hospitals and primary health centers, physical infrastructure, human resources and other basic criteria.
