Kathmandu. Gunakar Bhatta has resigned as executive director of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).
According to central bank sources, Bhatta has resigned from the board of directors. Sources said Bhatta may have resigned after he was almost certain to become governor.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba have reached an agreement to appoint Bhatta as the governor of the Rastra Bank. According to rastra bank sources, Bhatta may have resigned as executive director after the government decided to appoint him as governor on the basis of this.
Bhatta, who holds a PhD in economics, had been serving in the Rastra Bank for a long time. He was currently the head of the central bank’s department of economic research.
