Kathmandu. The government has barred Sharad Ojha from working as the chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority.
A secretary-level decision of the Ministry of Finance has sent a letter to the Insurance Authority directing to stop Ojha from working as the chairman. “The secretary level decision has directed not to present Ojha before the Insurance Authority,” a source at the ministry said, adding, “The ministry has not issued any order to reinstate Ojha.” It is not clear on what basis he appeared. For now, Ojha has been directed not to present himself before the Insurance Authority. ’
Ojha, who was suspended at the Insurance Authority, had reported to the office on Tuesday (September 14) as per the Supreme Court’s temporary order. He entered the office of the chairman on the fifth floor of the NEA at around 4:00 pm.
Ojha had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court demanding an interim order to reinstate and annul the decision of the Council of Ministers to sack him. The Supreme Court had issued an interim order on September 7 to keep the status quo without implementing the decisions of the Council of Ministers.
