Government removes provision of teachers in education faculty to teach in government schools

Kathmandu. The government is preparing to remove the provision of teachers who have studied in the faculty of education to teach in community schools.

The government has made such preparations through the Economic Reform Implementation Action Plan. A committee formed by the government to implement the recommendations of the report of the High Level Economic Reform Suggestion Commission formed under the chairmanship of former Secretary Rameshwor Prasad Khanal has prepared an action plan with sectoral and ministerial responsibilities and deadlines.

According to the action plan, the provision of b.ed. in the faculty of education in the same subject to become a teacher of mathematics, science and English subjects will now be removed. In order to ease the supply of teachers, the government is now going to bring a provision for passing from the Faculty of Humanities for English, from the Faculty of Science for Science and from the Faculty of Humanities and Science for Mathematics.

The government will provide a minimum of three months of training to such teachers after becoming permanent.

Similarly, the government is going to make arrangements for teaching in English medium to increase the number of students in community schools. The government has decided to adopt a policy to include a vocational subject compulsorily in the secondary level curriculum to make school education entrepreneurial.

The government plans to implement all these arrangements within a year.
