Kathmandu. Genji Yu has put pressure on all the commissioners, including the chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, to resign.
Issuing a pressure letter today, a group of people united by the Jenji community has demanded the resignation of all the commissioners including Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Prem Kumar Rai. “As you are aware, the main demands of the movement that began on September 23 are an end to corruption and impunity. “To address these demands, it is necessary to appoint impartial, independent and competent officials in the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA),” reads the press release. This raises a big question about your impartiality. ’
In addition, there is a lot of criticism that the actions of the CIAA officials are politically biased. “Your name is still implicated in several corruption cases including the wide-body scam,” the letter reads, adding, “The Special Court has clearly questioned you and the functioning of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).” It would not be wrong to assume that this will have a negative impact on all aspects, including ending corruption and punishing the guilty. There is no credible basis to believe that these actions can be done fairly under your leadership. ’
Therefore, in honour of the sacrifice of 75 Nepali citizens to end misrule, corruption and impunity, Genji Youth has called on CIAA Chief Rai and all the commissioners to resign immediately on moral grounds.
