Kathmandu. So far, only 12 percent of the insurance claims for physical and other damages caused during the GenG agitation have been paid by the companies.
As per the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance companies have to pay Rs 23.23 billion for a total of 3,187 insurance claims. Out of the total claim amount, the companies have so far paid Rs 2.79 billion to the insured. In this way, the companies have paid only 12.04 percent of the total claim amount.
Siddhartha Premier Insurance has seen the highest claim and payment so far. The company has to pay Rs 5.49 billion for 397 claims. So far, the company has paid Rs 1.28 billion.
Similarly, Oriental Insurance has to pay Rs 5.24 billion for 99 claims. So far, the company has paid only Rs 1.66 crore.
So far, IGI Preliminary Insurance has to pay Rs 2.79 billion for 215 claims, Shikhar Insurance has to pay Rs 2.41 billion for 435 claims, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has to pay Rs 1.58 billion for 342 claims and Neco Insurance has to pay Rs 1.14 billion for 264 claims.
As of October 23, IGI Preliminary has paid Rs 31.41 crore, Shikhar Rs 58.32 crore, Sagarmatha Lumbini Rs 7.24 crore and Neco Rs 9.80 crore.
