Genji Movement: Insurance claims worth over Rs 22.25 billion rise to 83%

Kathmandu. Insurance claims of over Rs 22.25 billion have been made for the damage caused by arson and vandalism during the Jenji agitation.

According to the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance companies have claimed more than Rs 22.25 billion in damages caused by arson and vandalism during the agitation on September 7 and 24. This amount is for 2,478 claims received by the companies.

Oriental Insurance has claimed the highest amount. The company has to pay Rs 5.22 billion for 73 claims.

Similarly, Siddhartha Premiere has claimed the second highest amount. According to the data, the company has to pay Rs 5.08 billion for 279 claims.

Thirdly, IGI Prudential has to pay Rs 2.76 billion as insurance claims. The company has 170 claims.

Similarly, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has claimed Rs 1.54 billion, Himalayan Everest Insurance Rs 1.15 billion and Neco Insurance Rs 1.11 billion. According to the data, Shikhar Insurance has filed 374 claims, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has 257 claims, Himalayan Everest Insurance has 196 and Neco Insurance has 211 claims.

Sanima GIC Insurance has collected Rs 810.7 crore, United Ajod Insurance Rs 51.34 crore, Nepal Insurance Rs 470.9 crore, NLG Insurance Rs 45.72 crore, Rastriya Insurance Rs 40.99 crore, Prabhu Insurance Rs 20.36 crore and National Insurance Rs 6.84 crore.

Similarly, Protective Micro has claimed Rs 1.13 crore, Star Micro Rs 72.38 lakh, Trust Micro Rs 44 lakh and Nepal Micro Rs 41.50 lakh.

Regionally, property insurance has the highest number of claims. In the property insurance category, the companies have to pay Rs 18.61 billion for 538 claims. This is 83.61 percent of the total claims.

Similarly, the companies have to pay Rs 2.95 billion for 1,778 claims for motor insurance, Rs 333.6 million for 132 claims for engineering and contractor claims, Rs 15.5 million for 11 claims for transport insurance and Rs 343.8 million for 19 other claims.
