Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Two people have died after being injured during the protest against the social media ban in Kathmandu. At the same time, the death toll has reached three.
According to eyewitnesses, one person was killed in police firing at the gate of the parliament building. The identity of the deceased has not been revealed yet.
Earlier, a protester who was injured while undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital succumbed to his injuries. The hospital authorities confirmed that the protesters had died. The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
At present, around 100 injured people are being treated at the Civil Hospital and Trauma Centre.
The District Administration Office has imposed curfew in various areas including Baneshwor. Despite the imposition of curfew, Genji’s protest continues in front of the parliament building.
As the protest intensified, the administration has deployed the army in baneshwor area. The administration has also ordered the use of rubber bullets on those vandalizing public property.
